| Abstract | Abstract A simple device is described which permits stereotactically guided injections of small volumes (30–100 nl) of horseradish peroxidase into the hypothalamus of the rat. An injecting micropipette is connected to a 0.5 μl syringe by 5 mm plastic tubing filled with paraffin oil. The syringe plunger is depressed by a 1:1 hydraulic pump produced by two oil-filled tuberculin syringes connected by oil-filled tubing and driven by a micrometer drive head. Injections are reproducibly followed by retrograde axonal transport to several distinct and specific areas of the brain. |
