| Abstract | Juniperus thurifera L. occupies a significant place in the Moroccan woodland. Its great ecological plasticity provides this tree the robustness to resist against the hard soil and the rough climatic conditions; it can go up until 3200m of altitude. Thus, it constitutes the highest limit of the forest. The Thouriferous juniper presents the principal natural resource which allows to maintain population in such as a marginal and sensitive space like High Atlas Mountain. Indeed, Thouriferous juniper stands for its great economical and social importance; it is at the same time a fodder for caprin and a wood for of the kitchen heating, it presents also therapeutic virtues due to its active ingredient. But the human and pastoral pressure and the environmental changes in general made this gasoline develops only on 30.000 ha according to current estimates, that is to say less than the third of its potential area. In the present study, and by the use of the satellite imagery, this later will make possible to carry out the dynamic follow-up of two Thouriferous juniper woodlands of the Marrakesh High Atlas Mountain, one is accordingly located in the solid mass of Oukaimeden-Tizrag and the other is in the valley of Ait Mizane on the foot of Jbel Toubkal. The comparison of the dynamics between these two woodlands, according to certain ecological and physical factors mainly erosion, will be analyzed and discussed. |
