Abstract	Resumen: Este trabajo propone una nueva lectura de la historia del edificio del antiguo convento de Santa Clara de Asis de la Habana Vieja, sede del Centro Nacional de Conservacion, Restauracion y Museologia (CENCREM). Durante los ultimos siete anos las investigaciones fundamentales realizadas en el convento han estado dedicadas a las instalaciones hidraulicas del primer claustro y los cambios constructivos del tercero. El objetivo principal de esta investigacion es el de explicar la evolucion del edificio conventual a traves de los cambios constructivos y tecnologicos ocurridos en el mismo. Los resultados de estos trabajos han permitido establecer los cambios ocurridos en dos de los tres claustros, referidos a momentos en los cuales se agrando y modernizo el primero, se transformo en capilla un local en el tercero, asi como a la construccion y evolucion tecnologica de los sistemas hidraulicos. A new reading the ancient Saint Claire of Assisi convent from the archaeological and historical approach Abstract: This paper provides a new view of the history of the ancient Saint Claire of Assisi monastery located in Old Havana, headquarters of the National Center for Conservation, Restoration and Museology (CENCREM). The main goal of the research is to explain the historical evolution of the convent through the technological and constructive changes that took place in the building. The information collected until now has enhanced the knowledge about the history of the building in a more accurate way than historiography could do. Key words: archaeology, architecture, restoration, transformations.
