| Abstract | One of the biggest challenges today’s GIS market facing is the abundance and accessibility of geospatial data. Technology has evolved to enable the fast collection and efficient processing of high resolution earth digital data. To fully exploit the richness of this massive spatial information, organizations must design and invest in spatial data storage infrastructure. By leveraging past effort and new technology, Intermap Technologies is building a comprehensive spatial data warehouse to accurately capture GIS information and efficiently disseminate to customers via internet. The success of this initiative lays the necessary foundation for sustainable growth. This paper focuses on specific practices to design, administrating and maintaining terabyte of highly accurate raster and vector data. Detailed discussion will be given on initial and on-going data load, continuous system tuning and performance improvement. The integration of spatial data warehouse with the existing production systems and data sharing with several web applications will be presented. |
