| Abstract | Geomorphological features within the revision of the Spanish Hydraulic Public Domain (RDPH) and the National Cartographic System on Flood Zones The recently entry into force of the revision of the Spanish Hydraulic Public Domain Regulation (RDPH) includes several references to geomorphological features such as criteria for delimiting certain elements defined within the Hydraulic Public Domain, such as the natural channel or flood prone areas, and the possibility of augmenting the “restrains area” (zona de policía) including the flood way. Geomorphological data and methodologies will also be taken into account for the development of the National Cartographic System on Inundation Zones, thought of to gather all cartographic efforts for the EU Directive on Floods. These amendments are a challenge for the community of geomorphologists, as well as a responsibility to provide the scientific criteria needed in order to efficiently accomplish the objectives.
