Abstract	RESUMEN: Desde los anos ochenta, diversas investigaciones vienen analizando el impacto provocado por la globalizacion economica sobre la urbanizacion. Tambien en las ciudades latinoamericanas se observan nuevas tendencias en cuanto a la estructuracion del sistema territorial. El proceso de "modernizacion excluyente" impulsado en los ultimos anos, ha agravado la crisis social en las ciudades. Si en los proximos anos se pretende comenzar a resolver los graves problemas urbanos existentes, deberia producirse un importante giro en la orientacion de las actuales politicas urbanas. ABSTRACT: Since the cighties, different researchs have studied the economic globalization impact on the urbanization. Latinoamerican cities are subject to the new tendencias as well. "Exclusive modernization" process is making worse the urban social crisis. In order to solve the very serious urban problems, it s necessary to change the orientation of the present urban politics.
