| Abstract | This study aims to describe the student’s problem solving ability of in resolving equation of the algebra story by step Polya terms of gender differences. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, by taking of six participants of class VII F SMPN 2 Mojolaban. Data collection techniques used in this study was the documentation of test results and interviews. Data validation was done by triangulation technique by comparing the documentation of test results with the results of interviews. Based on the analysis and discussion of data, they are obtained: (1) Understanding the problem: female and male students having high ability can understand the problems, female students having sufficient ability can understand the problem in number 1 and 2. Male students having low ability can understand problem in number 2 and 3. (2) Making a plan: Male and female students having high capability and also female students having sufficient ability can plan the completion well. Male students having sufficient ability can plan the completion of question number 1 and 3. The male students having low ability can only plan completion in question number 1. (3) Implementation: performed by male and female students with high ability. Male students having sufficient ability can implement the solution of the problem number 2 and 3, while female students do in number 3. Male and female students having low ability can only perform at one question. (4) Looking back: male and female students having high ability can look back at all the questions. Male and female students having sufficient ability can look back two questions. Female students having low ability can look back only one question, while male students with similar capabilities cannot look back the answers. |
