| Abstract | This study aimed to identify the competences required for the action of the profession of coach in Brazil. The coach is a tool that has been used for the executive’s development, aiming to find creative and innovative solutions for your business. To identify these competencies, a quantitative and descriptive research was conducted, it was used a questionnaire from internet with a database of 1,000 coaches from all over Brazil. The questionnaire was developed based on the theoretical framework and after the pre test that resulted in 24 assertions, divided on three constructs: knowledge, ability and attitude. By means of multivariate statistics techniques, the analyse of the scale, resulted in the reduction of 14 variables/questions of the questionnaire. From a univariate statistical analysis, the results helped to outline an updated profile of the professional coach and the profession in Brazil. According to the perception of 134 professionals that respond to the survey, ethic and confidentiality were the competencies highlighted in the relation between the coach and the client, followed by competencies related to communication, such as listening, communicating, as well as the establishment of the alliance between coach/coachee. The most required competencies were related to ability, in other words, the competencies related to know how to do, understood not as a resource but as a capacity of mobilization for the profession. |
