| Abstract | The objective of this thesis is to ascertain the influence financial education has on investment decision-making among Master's degree students of the FCA of the UAQ. Specific objectives were set forth to find how these students make investment decisions and, in accordance with that, to propose alternatives for promoting and acquiring financial education that can contribute to improving personal finances. This study aids research in the field of administration and is considered pertinent and relevant since 43.7% of the population applies informal saving and investing practices. It is thus expedient to provide knowledge of types of saving and formal investment through financial institutions; through financial education decisions can be made which lead to a better standard of living. The research problem arises from this context: How does financial education influence personal decision-making regarding investment? This led to considering the theoretical contributions of pertinent authors which made it possible to obtain the basis for the design of the research hypothesis: Financial education influences investment decision-making among students of the Master's degree of the FCA, UAQ. To prove the hypothesis and based on the nature of the research question, this study required a quantitative, cross-sectional focus through the use of a survey of students from the Master?s Degree in Administration of the Graduate Department of the FCA, UAQ. Treatment of the data was done using a non-probabilistic sample, with sampling by convenience. A test of the hypothesis was carried out which made possible the acquisition of sufficient statistical evidence to reject the null hypothesis with a significance level of p =.05, avoiding the type I error. Results show that nine out of ten of those surveyed believe that financial education influences their investment decisions. This study highlights the importance of providing financial education, not only to the population studied, but in general. |
