| Abstract | Arterial hypertension (AHT) is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases worldwide that causes significant mortality and disability. Objective: To evaluate the effect of the use of mobile telephones in adherence to the treatment of Hypertension. Materials and methods: Quasi-experimental intervention, before and after; In which patients from an outpatient chronic disease program were interviewed and asked to complete the Martín-Bayarre-Grau questionnaire to determine their adherence to antihypertensive treatment before and after the intervention. Results: A bivariate analysis was performed, comparing the variable adherence to treatment before and after the intervention of the four study groups; Only one significant difference was found in the group to which 8 messages per month were sent (p = 0.011). The groups submitted to intervention versus the control group were also compared after 3 months, with a significant difference in the group to which 8 messages per month were sent (p = 0.022). Conclusions: The use of mobile devices demonstrated improved adherence to treatment in the study population, especially in the group that received the highest frequency of text messages. |
