| Abstract | This study aimed to analyze the effect of dam under morphometric aspects of Brook Porteira (Aquidauna, MS) and its relationship to physical and chemical parameters of water. By electrometric and graduated tape, analyzed six points in the stream, describing the characteristics of its slope. It was sampled with spacing of 50 meters, three points before dam (treatment 1) and three after the dam (treatment 2). In both treatments there was aquatic flora. The density of riparian flora was higher in group 2, with concentrations of grasses ( Brachiaria sp). In general only the water temperature showed a significant difference (p <0.05). There was a tendency of superiority of the pH value and temperature of the air and inferiority of dissolved oxygen, depth and water temperature at points located after the dam. As for the electrical conductivity, wide ravine and water transparency were similar between treatments. Treatment 1 had a height below 2 gully treatment, with the difference of 96 ± 67.88 cm (p <0.05). We conclude that the points before and after the dam showed similar values for the variables analyzed, except for water temperature and depth of the stream.
