| Abstract | Using the theory of informal logic and fallacies, this article analyses the argumentation of Bill Clinton, George Bush and Ross Perot during the three televised debates between candidates running for election in the 1992 American presidential campaign. The author examines the particular role of emotional appeals, in addition to the roles of ad populum and ad hominem arguments and other fallacies. This study sheds some light on political language and discursive strategies. |
