| Abstract | In Ecuador since 2013, the nutritional label was implemented by semaphore in processed foods, in order to modify the buying and consumption habits of products and prevent chronic non-communicable diseases; given that the regulations are recent, I intend to determine the level of knowledge of nutritional labeling of processed foods. To know the nutritional status, and relate two variables in the students of the Human Medicine career of the UNL because they are a future entity to promote an adequate diet. The methodology applied was descriptive, with a quantitative and transversal approach through the application of a survey, and a calculation of IMC, to the sample of 148 students. The results obtained high knowledge on the labeling 54.1%, average knowledge 25% and low knowledge 20.9%; Nutritional status 73% of normal weight, 22.3% overweight, 4% low and 1% obesity. When the variables were related it was determined that 40.54% had normal weight with high knowledge, and 0.68% low weight and obesity with low knowledge. With this result, we conclude that the level of knowledge about nutritional labeling is related with the nutritional status of the population under study.
