| Abstract | Innapropriate pesticides use has become a problem for both farmer population and the environment, because its high toxicity and frequent exposures at wich the population is subjected. It promotes, the soil degradation in the horticultural crops, and the presence of toxic compounds at the roots, causing food contamination and incresing the risk of toxicity for the population involve in horticultural activities. Therefore, its used a risk of toxicity evaluation associated with carbofuran, to quantify the danger level wich is exposed the population of Finca San Rafael, based on the exposure scenario determinated by a lettuce crop where FURADAN 3SC is applied a s pesticide. As there was no carbofuran residues in lettuce, it procedes to perform the risk evaluation, taking into account the presence of three chemical wich where found in lettuce, difenoconazole, methamidophos and Propiconazole. The concentrations were compared with MRLs (Maximum Residue Límits), to set, both methamidophos and Propiconazole exceed the established limits. Furthermore, the substances were clasified according to the level of danger for human by WHO, getting a little dangerous, very dangerous and moderately dangerous for difenoconazole, methamidophos and propiconazole levels respectively. The substances stuided are applied directly on soil crops, where they are transported to other environment compartments (air and water) and lettuces, wich are considered the main exposure route to pesticides. Once the lettuce arrives to the population, exposure pathways presented by the population were evaluated, taking into account the frecuency and exposure periods, thus obtaining, for the residential population exposure period of 24h/day for 5 days per week and for the agricultural community a period of 8h/day for 5 days per week, stating that people who are in this population are the most likely to be affected by the application and use of pesticides. The results for risk level were 0,16 for fifenoconazole, 0,008 for methamidophos and 0.08 for propiconazole. Although difenoconazole is classified as a lees dangerous substance, is the active compound that increased the risk generated for the community surrounding the lettuce crop, because it is in a higher concentration in lettuce than methamidophos and Propiconazole. |
