| Abstract | The study of a toposequence on the northern slope of Tenerife, has shown a relation between the distribution of soils and the various climatic belts. This paper deals with the most recent soils derived from basaltic materials, the pedogenesis of which cari be related more surely with present climatic conditions. This sequence is restricted to three segments: Andosols in a perhumid belt, andic Brown Soils in a transitional belt, eutrophic Brown Soils in a two seasons subtropical. The first part states the morphological physical and chemical characteristics of soils. It shows their variations according to the evolution of climate: shortening of A horizon, change of texture from loamy to clayey, development of fragmenta1 structure, decrease of reaction with Fieldes and Perrott test (NaF). 252 M.L. TWEDOR SALGUERO, E. FERNANDEZ CALDAS, P. QUANTIN The second part deals with mineralogical and micromorphological characteristics. Zt shows the evolution of some amorphous or cryptocrystalline organomineral complexes (with allophane and imogolite) and allitized (with fine gibbsite) soils, to clay minerals (halloysite, interstratified M-C) soils. Then summarizing the typology of soils, we cari deduce their place in the french classification of soils and in the Soi1 Taxonomy. At last, a general conclusion emphasizes the effect of the climatic variation between two poles, one perhumid and another with two seasons ,on the evolution of pedogenesis. |
