| Abstract | This paper is a case study of design assumptions of the chosen examples of architecture in health resorts in Karpaty and Sudety built during the 60s and 70s. The issue of particular concern is the relation between building and landscapce. The analysis includes both architectural and urban issues and their social, political and ideological background as well. The man scientific issue is preceded with a brief portrait of modernist theories concerning common relations among culture and nature, and the specific circumstances of leisure in Peoples Republic of Poland. The subject of the analysis are both complexes (and their connections with existing structures) and particular buildings as well. The case studies portrait the general tendencies in creating architecture in health resorts. The compilation of objects and archival descriptions which followed them emphasizes that those building were a result of current philosophy and beliefs concerning architecture. Although, nowadays they are frequently concerned as “undesired heritage of communism”. The consciousness of those relations can become a boost for further analysis aiming for the valorization of the post-war architecture in Polish health resorts. |
