| Abstract | This study aims to describe the ability to construct negotiating texts by paying attention to the structure and language content of class X students. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative research with 33 research subjects as the subject. The method of data collection in this study is the observation method, task method, and documentation method. Data analysis techniques use the benchmark reference assessment formula (PAP). Based on the results of the study, it was found that the ability to construct negotiating text by paying attention to the contents of the structure and language in students is normal, this is because, among others, students and teachers lack preparation in the teaching and learning process used, students who are less active in receiving lessons. The ability to construct negotiating texts by paying attention to the contents of the structure and language by students namely (1) Individual abilities consisting of (a) high categories as many as 14 students or 42%, (b) moderate categories as many as 19 students or 58%, (c) low categories 0 students or 0%; and (2) GPA of 65.72 in the Normal category.
