| Abstract | The present study recaps different conceptions of knowledge and language acquisition, pointing up some issues related to the brain's processing of information and its relation with language learning. It is presented the importance and quality of L2 vocabulary teaching in public schools, pointing out some factors that may interfere in the language learning process. This work consists on a qualitative study focused on investigating the relevance and viability of some practical suggestions for teaching vocabulary so that students may improve their learning skills.This paper is based on the studies of Ellis (1994), Widdowson (1991), Antunes (2003), Nation (2003), Almeida Filho (2002) among others. |
