| Abstract | SUMMARY The purpose of this paper was to classify the positions of inferior third molars by means of panoramic radiographs according to the Pell-Gregory classification and relate them with the surgical technique used for the removal of these teeth. The results showed a relationship between the position of the inferior third molar and the choice of the surgical technique employed and that the 1A position in Pell-Gregory classification was the one most frequently encountered. Moreover, it was also observed that the greater the degree of dental impactation, the greater the need for a more invasive technique. Descriptors: Third molar, impacted tooth, classification, surgery. |
