| Abstract | Introduction: initiation and early stages of drug use usually occur in adolescence, increasingly younger ages. Community Mental Health Center Plaza (CMHCP) enabled child and a youth program for addiction treatment where psychological evaluation, counseling and pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment to adolescents who come at any stage of consumption is provided. Objectives: To identify the psychosocial characteristics and substance of adolescents receiving care at the CMHCP "Revolution Square" Describe the psychological characteristics that influence the evolution of consumption of adolescents. Methods: A qualitative-quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional research was conducted with the universe made up of 35 teenagers who attended the consultation in the period January 2014January 2015. To this end, prior informed consent of the patient and her companion conducted structured interviews and psychometric tests were applied. Results: There was a predominance of male adolescents between 15 and 18 years with link to study or work, mainly consuming marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids in the street, group influence or family conflicts. Anxiety and depression did not constitute symptoms associated with consumption, finding guilt, dependence, impulsivity, aggression, paranoid trend and socialization difficulties affecting the evolution of substance. Conclusions: Consumption in adolescents studied is mediated by the peculiarities of the age and characteristics of the family relationship. Psychological characteristics found are a benchmark for individual and family psychological intervention. |
