| Abstract | Abstract The effect of the formation of hydrogen bonds between pyrazine and either water molecules or protons in solution on the vibrational frequencies of pyrazine has been studied with the help of the results of ab initio computed force fields. Such calculations have allowed to explain the differentiated behaviour shown by the vibrational frequencies when pyrazine links either to the solvent or to protons. Accordingly, it has been possible to decide which type of molecule is responsible for the observed frequencies in different acidity conditions. |
