| Abstract | This work shows experimental combustion results on a direct injection diesel engine using common diesel fuel and diesel blended with palm oil biodiesel at 5% and 20% in a volumetric basis. It is used a one-zone heat release model to determine characteristic combustion parameters like the maximum averaged pressure and temperature produced inside the combustion chamber, delay time, heat release rate, and combustion duration. These fuels are tested in stationary steady state in five operationg modes defined by engine speed and torque. Combustion parameters variation caused by load is not affected by biodiesel blends, which exhibits a combustion process similar to the regular diesel, although slightly but a little slower. |
