| Abstract | This article aims to perform a systematic review of the literature on institutional obstetric violence in Brazil, and present the main evidence found in the articles selected. Data were acquired by selecting items in the Virtual Health Library and the final sample consisted of 07 articles published between the years 2006-2014. Neglect was the most common obstetric institutional violence, followed by verbal violence and physical violence, performed mainly by doctors and nursing professionals. The technical model that excels in rationality and lack of humanization of assistance still prevails. We conclude that women's knowledge about their rights, including the requirement of passenger presence of your choice is the main coping strategy of obstetric institutional violence |
