| Abstract | STRACT The so-called information society is gradually imposing a new concept of schools. Current social conditions require adaptation to the complex settings we live in. Schools must assume their role as a space for constructing knowledge as well as new identities mediated by ICT. Schools that are different require teachers that are also different. During training, the contents and methods that teachers in our society need to carry out their professional activity are defined. Teacher education can be understood as a learning of skills. This view is important but not sufficient. Teacher education in the context of the computer society means a change in approach with respect to what education, teaching, learning and teachers' function should be. These are all issues that should be addressed in the process of training in New Technologies and not only with New Technologies. If not, we run the risk being limited to a technical conception of training and teaching. The essence of training should be articulated around three axes: knowledge of the subject matter, the practical situation and the reflective experience. Thus reinforcing the concept of training centred on the educational context, and in the analysis of the organizational fabric which interlaces a set of norms (both explicit and implicit) establishing flows of information and routes of communication and configuring the appropriate ways of doing thing for a particular context. Here we present the e-portfolio as a tool around which it is possible to build an educational proposal with these characteristics. The construction of the portfolio represents, for all future teachers, the opportunity to address the adventure of their own learning process. As in a journey of adventure, we must prepare the way. How we arrive at our destination depends on the wealth that we gather along the way. |
