| Abstract | The place of literacy theory in the teaching of literature is related to different variables: academic background of the tea- cher, teaching focus, teaching approach, and place of the subject in the curriculum. All of these depend, in turn, on temporal, geo- graphical and cultural contexts. This communication passes through the educational scenario in Latin America, more specifically, Uruguay, and proposes a reflection on the place of literary theory in the teaching of literature, and its impact on classroom practice. |
