Abstract	Project presented as final work at the Curso de Especializacion en Gestion de Unidades de Informacion (Specialization Course in Units of Information Management), organized by the Direccion Nacional del Sistema Nacional de Capacitacion of the Instituto Nacional de la Administracion Publica, in which participated the main libraries of the national public sector. With the intention of making the Nation's National Archive match the international standards, the project proposes to start by the colonial section, appraising it, perserving and conserving the items and applying processes of descriptive standardization. The fund not only keeps the national memory but also reflects the common memory of the countries once belonged to the Rio de La Plata Viceroyalty. So Argentina's National Archive has a multinational character. By virtue of the recommendations made by the the International Advisory Committee of UNESCO of 1996 at Uzbekistan, it was decided to include those documents in the World's Memory Program. The searchers wich use this materials, are not only argentines but a significant percentage become from around the world. Many times the use is related not only to history but also with anthropology, etnography and contiguous disciplines. The state of conservation is critical and if urgent messures to revert the tendency are not taken, it is stimated that it will get worse in the short run. The high frequency of use and its state of deterioration, urges to modify the system of archiving, the planning of tasks of conservation and restoration, the ellaboration of heuristic assistants on the basis of standards and the incorporation of inventories and normalized formulas for Internet, to guarantee the remote access. Starting form this pilot project and thanks to a process of feedback, progessively it will be processed the whole documentary fund, because the standardization of procedures by the international standards proposed is perfectly consistent with any type of document.
