Abstract	The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the wear promo- ted in the mesial wall cervical and medium level of the distal root canal of first mandibular mo- lars after canal preparation. For this, thirty human distal mandi- bular roots were used. In group I, manual files associated the Ga- tes-Glidden drills were used and, in group II only manual files were used. The obtained results, submit- ted to Students t Test (a > 0,05) did not show statistically signi- ficant differences between both groups.
