| Abstract | Standard capacitive touchscreens measure the change of the mutual or self-capacitance of the screen electrodes caused by the touch object. By applying some algorithms and mathematical operations over the measured signals, information about the position of the touches, their strength, size, and shape can be obtained. However, the touch information does not contain any data about who is touching the screen—i.e., different touch objects cannot be distinguished from each other. This article describes a technique that makes it possible—in addition to obtaining the standard touch information as described above—to determine who/what is touching the screen. |
