| Abstract | In this work the use of modified glass support (29% Li2O, 11% ZrO2, 5% BaO, 65% SiO2) was explored and compared with the optic fiber support for SPME manufacture fiber. Both supports were coated with poli(dimetylsiloxane) (PDMS) through the sol-gel reaction. Absorption tests of toluene and xilene isomers and analysis of the morphology manufactures fibers’coating were used for comparison of the two supports proposed in this work. These fibers had been used in the development of methodology for the determination of BTEX in synthetic aqueous samples and in water from monitoring wells located at gas stations. The coating of both supports, with PDMS, by sol-gel process showed to be efficient, and the best coating was obtained by using a temperature of 25oC and 3 coating cycles of 24 hours. Under this condition of coating, the coated fiber using ceramic glass support presented about 44 μm of thickness and showed to be more efficient than the fiber coated with PDMS using optic fiber. The repeatability of 7 extraction of BTEX using only one fiber of PDMS obtained with ceramic glass support was inferior to 5% while that the fiber obtained with optic fiber support was around 11%. The manufacture reproducibility of PDMS fibers, obtained through extractions of BTEX in water, was inferior to 7% for fiber with support ceramic glass and about 11,6% for fiber with optic fiber support. The detection limits for the ceramic glass support fiber were around 0.2 μg L. This same fiber presented linearity around 0.999 and dynamic range work from 25 to 2000 μg L. |
