| Abstract | This paper presents a chart of the Brazilian scientific production about deaf in Information Science area, through a survey in the database BRAPCI. It was performed a search by the term “deaf” encompassing all fields (title, abstract, keywords). The second step was the identification of the following points of the articles: title, keywords, authors, periodical title and publication year, and then the manual counting and the data analysis. 31 articles were retrieved. By filtering the search by period, it was found that all of the retrieved articles were published after the 2000’s, which may have been influenced by the establishment of policies and social movements on the rights of persons with disabilities, with the publication of specific laws. It was also identified by periodicals of publication and by the academic background of the authors, that the articles about deaf people focuses on the educational area, which confirms the interdisciplinarity of Information Science and also the close connection of the analysed subject with the area of education. Concludes that Information Science in Brazil has few studies about deaf in national scientific journals. |
