| Abstract | The article aims to reflect on Burnout Syndrome in health professionals through a review of literature in scientific databases. Burnout is a psychological and physical manifestation resulting from the chronic emotional tension experienced in the professional environment and characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and low personal fulfillment. The diagnosis is made through an applicable self-administered questionnaire, the instrument Maslach Burnout Inventory – MBI, used to identify symptomatological dimensions of the disease. Overwork, worker dissatisfaction and non-recognition of the work performed can cause physical and mental fatigue, which causes the worker to trigger the syndrome. Since many health professionals are unaware of the syndrome, it is necessary to disseminate information about burnout and its consequences. It is important that in the work environment of the health professionals are developed actions aimed at worker health, as well as protection factors to the development of Burnout Syndrome. |
