| Abstract | in English In recent decades, expectations emerged towards universities to contribute to the social development with their scientific activity. However, there is a lack of studies focusing on the individuals’ spin-off creation intention and the investigation of gender differences did not draw attention of scholars. Thus, our centeral research question aims to reveal gender differences in spin-off creation attitude between female and male scientists. In 2015, we conducted a research among scientists who represent the following scientific disciplines: engineering, medicine, natural sciences and agriculture (N=660). Our results contribute to the findings of international literature which highlighted that female scientists express less interest towards creating spin-off companies for the commercialization of scientific results. Although, female scientists are motivated more by social-development-oriented motivations than male scientists. Furthermore, our results emphasize the role of previous entrepreneurial experiences, entrepreneurial competencies, industrial relations and financial resources relating to spin-off creation. |
