| Abstract | The adoption of inflation targeting by central banks around the world has been nothing short of spectacular. In the 25 years since the Reserve Bank of New Zealand first adopted the inflation targeting (IT) framework, it has become the de facto standard against which all other monetary policy frameworks are compared. While some countries, such as New Zealand, the U.K., Sweden, and Norway, are very explicit about how their monetary policy is tied to IT, other countries, such as the U.S., are not explicit followers of the framework and can only be considered inflation targeters “in spirit”, if at all. |
