| Abstract | Fracture toughness (Kic) is an important characteristic of steels, which determines their serviceability and is also a reliability criterion. Experimental data on Kic are limited, however, for nitriding and carburizing processes that are widely employed in industry, and there are no reliable computational methods. An attempt to develop a computational model for determination of the Kic of nitrided or carburized steels is made in this study. |
