| Abstract | This work presents a fault localization methodology in a transmission line, based on the analysis of transient regimes and high frequency components from two monitoring terminals. Initially, a bibliographic review is made and the main concepts involved are presented: traveling waves, time and frequency domain, Fourier Transform, Wavelet Transform and the main wavelet families. Voltage signals with transient regimes are firstly decomposed into their modal components and are transformed from the time domain to the frequency domain through the Wavelet Transform, where the instants of the arrival of the traveling waves are detected at the terminals for subsequent location estimation incidence of the disorder. Aiming to validate the method, single-phase, biphasic, biphasic-earth and three-phase faults with different fault resistances were simulated in ATP and at different locations. The processing of the obtained data was done in the Matlab environment for the consequent location of the fault. |
