| Abstract | The feeding trends in aquaculture are changing. The industry, researchers and fish farmers are aiming to improve productive yield, having as a priority, animal welfare and environmental safety. The development of new alternatives are focused on the incorporation of natural extracts additives, replacing chemicals and antibiotics usage representing health risk and negative effects in the fish feed. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of essential oils (MixOil®) in productive parameters of tilapia fingerlings (Oreochromis niloticus) and feed by means of physical-chemical parameters. The experiment consisted of four treatments; 6000 fingerlings divided into 1500 fingerlings and three replicates per treatment. The fingerlings were distributed in 12 tanks of 0.27 m3 with 500 fingerlings per tank. Control, AT100 (maximum dose), AT75 (75%) and AT50 (50%) was evaluated. The productive parameters were measured during 30 days, sampling every 10 days. A completely randomized design (CRD) was used, with a significance of (P ≤ 0.05). The treatments did not show differences (P > 0.05) in daily weight gain and survival parameters. The treatments showed differences (P ≤ 0.05) for biomass and feed conversion index parameters, but did not show an overall yielding improvement. An effect and difference (P ≤ 0.05) it was found in the texture and color of the feed used. |
