| Abstract | Using the method of research historical, in this article the general situation and reasons for decline of the medieval scholastic theology are offered in the first place. Subsequently, this stream would be gradually replaced by the humanist movement, born in the framework of the European Renaissance. In this context include the figures of Desiderio Erasmo de Rotterdam, Juan Luis Vives and Francisco de Vitoria, deducing from its humanist perspective, they tried to fit in his work the teachings of the old Scholasticism to the war times of the 16th century. In a epistle that the Valencian author sends from exile to his teacher on June 13, 1527 reveals the Spanish attitude towards new ideas coming from Europe, especially the Protestant Reformation. Also, the division of our University among the supporters of the scholastic tradition and of the humanistic renovation, two positions then faced from the theological-philosophical point of view. This is reflected in the process of Valladolid, convened in that year to judge the writings of Erasmus, whose cause in Spain was especially followed by Vives. All these issues, coupled with problems that underlying a process suspended interest, are the conclusions that we can get through the inductive. For the preparation of this work have been used sources theological, historical, bibliographic and biographical. Gave special attention to the above-mentioned epistle of June 13, 1527. |
