Abstract	The studies evaluating the seismic vulnerability of buildings have the goal to give information in order to obtain a greater certainty about the behavior of the building during a seismic event. The main goal of the case study described in this article, is to evaluate 8 building of the Bogota downtown area, which have features that increase the probability of being vulnerable and have an improper behavior during the seismic. This evaluation takes place through the vulnerability index method, which have made changes to 11 evaluation parameters and finally the method was applied to the selected buildings. Despite the features of the buildings the results, indicate that the most of them are not vulnerable and have safe structures, having higher values in the parameters that measure the structural plan configuration, elevation and conventional resistance. The results are due to the parameters that evaluate the irregularity in plant and elevation, which have no greater weight to help determine their influence on vulnerability.
