| Abstract | In this paper, we reflect on the way in which excessively fragmented and oversimplified information in the teaching of human body systems can lead to misconceptions in learning among 5th grade elementary school students. Based on the information presented in the school textbook, we propose a series of erroneous deductions (ED) that could be made by novice students when trying to understand the drawings and their explanatory texts. Then, we use the students' responses to an ad hoc questionnaire as evidence to analyze the way in which recurrent referents in their answers have correspondences with the proposed erroneous deductions. |
