Abstract	The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness role-playing techniques of group guidance services to improve discipline in school eighth grade students of SMPN 26 Surakarta Academic Year 2011/2012. This research is a classroom action research (CAR). The experiment was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation and reflection. Subjects were eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 26 Surakarta which totaled 15 people. Data sources are from students. Techniques of data collection using questionnaires and observation. The validity of data using triangulation techniques methods and data sources. Analysis of data using analytical techniques percentage and clinical analysis. The procedure is a model study Kemmis and Taggart MC. Measures used in this study is the Guidance Role Playing group, is the group guidance services to individuals in solving problems similar to the specified role spontaneously. Implementation of actions performed in the first cycle and second cycle. The results showed that through role playing technical of group guidance services to improve student discipline in the school from pre-action to action cycle I and cycle II action. The increase occurred in the first cycle of 29.69% but not significant as defined under the indicators of success. Significant increases occurred in the second cycle of 52.76% has been achieved for a set of indicators of success is 50%. Based on the findings of this study concluded that the role playing techniques of group guidance services effectively to improve discipline in school eighth grade students of SMPN 26 Surakarta Academic Year 2011/2012.
