| Abstract | This thesis discusses about The Effectiveness of Circle the Sage Technique to teach Degrees of Comparison at Eighth grade students of SMP Islam Al-Kautsar Semarang in the Academic Year of 2013/2014. The statement of problem in this study is the using of Circle the sage technique to teach degrees of comparison at Eighth grade students of SMP Islam Al-Kautsar Semarang in the academic year of 2013/2014 effective. The objective of this study is to find whether the use of Circle the sage technique to teach degrees of comparison at Eighth Grade students of SMP Islam Al-Kautsar Semarang in The Academic Year of 2013/2014 is effective or not. This research is an experimental research. It was conducted into two classes; the experimental class (VIII B) and control class (VIII C) as sample. The experimental class was taught by using Circle the Sage technique, while the control class was taught using conventional method. The researcher gave try-out test to try-out class (VIII A). The test had been tried out to find out the validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power before it was used to gather the data. The formula that was used to analyze the data was t-test. It was used to determine whether there was significant difference between students’ score in experimental and control class or not. After collecting the data, it was found that the pre-test average score of experimental class was 67.85 and the control class was 66.81 Meanwhile the post-test average score of the experimental class was 81.42 and the control class was 76.66. It was obtained that t-test was 2.726 and the t-table was 1. 67 for alpha (α) 5%. The t-test was higher than t-table (2.72 > 1. 67). It meant that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Based on the result, the researcher concludes that Circle the Sage technique was effective to teach degrees of comparison at Eighth Grade students of SMP Islam Al-Kautsar Semarang in the Academic Year of 2013/2014. |
