| Abstract | The use of relevance feedback in the automatic document retrieval process has numerous realizations. This paper deals with the use of a relevant document as the updated query for the subsequent iteration in a search. Experiments are also performed using a known relevant document as the original query submitted to the system. The experiments are performed within the structure of the SMART retrieval system, using the 200 document Cranfield collection. Recall and precision measures are taken to evaluate the results of the experiments and suggestions are made for possible further investigations. |
