| Abstract | Introduction: Professionals in the area of biological sciences and healthcare, carrying out their occupational activities and individuals that use health care services are exposed to several risks, if it is not perceptible or monitored, may result in accidents. Objective : To describe the perception of occupational risk, and the conditions of the professionals at the workplace in the immunodiagnostic laboratory in a Brazilian public institution of higher education. Methodology: Quantitative descriptive study, with a volunteer participation of 19 professionals. Data collection was performed using a structured questionnaire for the perception of the environmental risk groups: physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and accidents, based on Ordinance 25 of 1994 from the Ministry of Labor and Employment r esults: Among the risk groups regarding to the working process, biological risk was the most common, represented by the manipulation of blood samples or its fractions. Professionals informed the availability of personnel protective equipment and its use in their respective sectors for containing and minimizing the risks. conclusion: The laboratory follows the actual legislation and the quality and safety requirements. The professionals are aware of the risks they are exposed. Actions to minimize the exposure to occupational risks must be continued for maintenance the health of these workers. |
