Abstract	The survival of the democratic system for many years impose democratic theories follow its renewal. Thus, normative democratic conceptions were replaced by empirical thesis, especially the formation of an essentially subminimalist design and other minimalist. Thus, this work will seek to examine the political regime in force in Brazil, based on these empirical democratic theories and data released by the Democracy Index, showing that the current regime in the country moves away from a full democracy and approaches an electoral democracy. For this, an empirical research will be conducted and used the quantitative, qualitative and deductive methods.
