Abstract	SUMMARY: Tema y titulo de suma atraccion y actualidad. La profesoraRodriguez-Izquierdo intenta acercarse y acercarnos a un fenomeno preo-cupante en el sistema educativo espanol: "el papel de la mujer en loslibros de textos". Porque la realidad es que nuestra sociedad pervivetodavia asentada en un sistema de valores y relaciones sociales que,basa-dos en una vision androcentrica, toma lo masculino como eje de todaexperiencia. Es cierto que las declaraciones de la UNESCO, la nueva legis-lacion respecto a la mujer, la LOGSE y, por supuestos, los movimientosfeministas, estan suponiendo un revulsivo concienciador en Espana; sinembargo esta realidad tarda en llegar a las aulas y a los textos, donde elsexismo de los libros y el olvido sistematico de la existencia y papel fun-damental de la mujer en la sociedad es permanente.Theme and title of utmost attraction. Becausehthe reality is that our society continues to live in a system of values andsocial relationships which, based on an androcentred vision, takes everyt-hing masculine as a basis for all experiences. It's true that declarationsfrom UNESCO, the new legislation with regards to the woman, the LOGSE(Spanish Education Act) and of course the feminist movements are crea-ting a stimulating awareness in Spain; however this reality is taking a longtime in arriving to classrooms, and to the texts, where the sexism of booksand the systematic forgetting of the existence and fundamental role of thewoman in society, is permanent.
