| Abstract | The archaeological supervision connected with the works of consolidation made between 2016 and 2017 in the Keep of Priego de Córdoba’s Castle, have shed new light on the knowledge of the architectural evolution of the building. Pertaining as much to its original military function during its medieval period as its post-medieval adaptation as a residential palace, granary, pigeon house or warehouse. Besides this, the results of various analysis are provided: C14 (for the dating of the tower) and composition of mortars. As an extraordinary event, during the works, a unique set of medieval weaponry that we can define as out of the ordinary was found: arrowheads nailed to the outer walls of the tower, plates of armour (coat plates) and crossbow bolt shafts, among other findings. |
