| Abstract | This paper provides feedback between science and river management. We show how tools developed by social scientists can be useful to river managers. We explain how to design scientific transfer. We emphasize the key elements and four steps which helped us to succeed in sharing skills and knowhow. We use the case study of the Dordogne catchment. Using various archives, data collection was carried out by a river management organization (EPIDOR). We selected 586 newspaper articles in 2016. We created a database, developed content analysis and a textometry approach, and used a GIS to produce maps. We wanted to understand the media coverage of an efficient water management program. We consider that this efficiency is based on three main criteria: multifunctional use of the water, appropriate allocation of space to different aspects of water management, and achieving a balance between the different stakeholders’ requirements and objectives. We highlight common points and differences between EPIDOR and the newspaper reports. |
