| Abstract | Objective: To analyze the research carried out by the medical students of the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM-X) through a review of the projects they presented at the Modular Research Congresses. Method: ber 2006 to December 2013. These Congresses took place three times a year at UAM-X. Results: There were 24 congresses from 2006 to 2013, in which 2160 medical students presented 521 papers. The area with more works was Mental Health, although diabetes was the most studied disease. From all the students enrolled in Medicine, only 18.2 % presented their research at these congresses. Clinical research works accounted for 87% of the presentations and 13 % to bibliographical reviews. Conclusion: Medical students receive research training through several modules, but less than one fifth (18.2 %) of them presented some type of research in these congresses. Thus, the teaching of medical research should be further evaluated and consolidated in the Medicine degree of UAM-X. © 2015, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. Published by Masson Doyma México S.A.
