| Abstract | In this paper were analysed the essential issues about the social policy of the Soviet Union, which solved the problems interconnected with the inclusion of the mass of women in the job market and the changes of the social institute of the family. The paper approached the period of the first twenty years of the existence of the USSR. The accomplishment of "Bolshevik feminism" the Soviet version of socialist feminism, which was a “hybrid” of the Marxism ideas of nineteenth-century earlier of the twentieth century and the demands of the young country that went through the acceleration phase of industrialization. The central dogma of "Bolshevik feminism" was the obligatory inclusion of all Soviet citizens in the job market, which was interpreted as the liberation women from the patriarchal power. The Soviet legislation connected with the women protection issues and children, also had a special role to motivate and impose on women to be employed in nationalized enterprises. In those years also happened the radical change of the Soviet family: transference of the patriarchal family to family nucleus. Besides that, the financial independence of women that was interconnected with free access to education, politics and sport and based on legal equality of men and women, did not achieve true gender equality. During the second decade of the realization of "Bolshevik feminism," the general conception of women gained two interpretations, made by Bolshevik theorists: 1. The self-employed woman who should be charged equally with man; 2. The execution functions of the traditional feminine caregiver of the house and children. This two topics interpretation brought two charges, disturbed the consolidation of the rights conquered by the women. The Soviet emancipation can be appraised as an unfinished project. The State policy forced women to compensate for the failures of the system women family protection with their own efforts without receiving any compensation. The project of Soviet emancipation was successive, if analysed on the economical point of view, because it brought thousands of women into the job market. But from the social point of view he was unsuccessful because he did not achieve the equality between men and women that was promised. |
