| Abstract | Self-medication involves significant risks for people who perform this practice; These risks range from mild to severe, are derived from possible events related to drugs and drug dependent and user. Ignorance of these risks or omission of information about them, can have harmful effects on the health of the user. Recent research in Bogota D.C., evidence is one of the cities in which this practice is the highest in the country. Due to the very limited possibility for the user of drugs have access to objective, scientific and clear information, and within the framework of Participatory Action Research is necessary professionals, as medication is called the Pharmacist, integrally involved in activities ranging from providing and facilitating access to information sources by the community, which in turn allow them to make informed decisions against drug responsible consumption. In order to address this activity, it is necessary that the Faculties of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of Colombia integrate the methodological elements proposed by the Participatory Action Research, which enable them to refocus and adjust their curricula, so that professionals able to form empower the community in making decisions about your health. In the context described above, and based on the literature search of educational experiences that have incorporated the methodology of participatory action research as a methodology for updating their resumes, this paper aims at presenting this alternative methodology for faculties that offer career Chemistry pharmaceuticals - pharmaceuticals, in Colombia, adjust their curricula in order to train professionals that meet the social need that are legally assigned, to inform and educate drug users in the proper use of them, given the impact they have in terms of public health and welfare of the general population. |
